How do you ceremoniously light the next light on the menorah with an electric menorah?

I know that the middle candle is used to light the appropriate candle on the candle powered menorah.

I don't think that lighting the electric menorah counts for religious purposes, so I do it in the most convenient way possible and don't worry about following the rules. I just screw in the next light bulb each night, put it on the window sill, and plug it in. The one rule to follow is that when you place the menorah in the window, it should appear correct (lights added from right to left) when you look at it from inside your home. Someone outside looking at it will see things backwards with the lights added from left to right.



I also light a real menorah, but I don't put it on the window sill because it could be a fire hazard if a candle fell off and landed on the floor. For the real menorah, you should follow the rules, candles are added from right to left and lit by the shamash from left to right.
